Badal S. Doshi Becomes First Indian To Participate In Gotland Grand National

Veteran motorcycle racer Badal S. Doshi has made history as the first Indian to compete in the prestigious Gotland Grand National, the world’s largest enduro event, held annually in Sweden since 1984. With a 40-year legacy, this renowned three-hour race features over 3,600 riders from 15 countries across 22 classes, presenting a formidable test of endurance and skill. Doshi will brave challenging conditions near the North Pole, with temperatures ranging between 5°C and -5°C.
This achievement is a significant milestone in Doshi's 30-year career as a motorcycle racing icon. Starting his journey in 1994 with the Monsoon Scooter Rally, Doshi has showcased his versatility in various racing formats, including hill climbs, dirt tracks, rallies, supercross, and autocross events.
Some of his key accomplishments include:
- Securing a podium finish at the 2004 Raid de Himalaya Rally
- Representing India at the Asian Grand Prix in Taiwan
- Winning the inaugural Indian National Sprint Rally Championship in 2019 on his KTM EXC 500
Despite numerous injuries, Doshi’s relentless determination fuels his racing passion. He has also played a vital role in developing young talent through his two-wheeler racing school and promoting road safety with his "Reach Home Safe" campaign. As he prepares for the Gotland Grand National, Doshi continues to inspire future racers, solidifying his status as one of India’s greatest motorcycle racing legends.
